ATCO Demonstration Mining Hut “Donga”

ClearVuePV solar glass windows to be installed in prototype transportable mining hut “Donga”

  • In collaboration with Murdoch University researchers in the Discipline of Engineering & Energy and several other local industries, two ClearVuePV solar glass windows will be installed in a prototype transportable mining hut (or “donga”) at Murdoch University.
  • This project is an initiative with major mining companies such as BHP and Rio Tinto, who are setting targets of net zero carbon emissions across their operations by 2050.
  • ClearVue’s solar windows will be used in conjunction with a range of other sustainable, low carbon building products and technologies aimed to increase energy efficiency and thermal comfort for occupants, particularly FIFO workers.
  • Data collected from the donga’s monitoring system will be used to assess energy consumption and thermal comfort levels, which can then be used to validate a virtual building model able to simulate a mine-site based in the north of WA.
